Effective date: August 17, 2026
DayLine is developed and published by Andrew Horowitz ("we," "us"). This policy describes how the DayLine iOS application handles your information. Questions can be sent to adhorowi@gmail.com.
DayLine is a tax-residency day tracker. To do its job it works with sensitive information — where you are each day — and it is designed so that this information never leaves your phone.
Location. With your permission, DayLine uses Apple's visit monitoring and significant-change location services to determine which state or country you are in each day. Location fixes are processed on your device, converted to a state or country attribution, and stored in a local database on your device. Location data is never transmitted to us or to any third party. Reverse geocoding (converting coordinates to a place name) is performed by Apple's on-device and Apple-operated services under Apple's privacy policy.
Day records, notes, and trips. The day ledger, notes, planned trips, and settings you create are stored only in the app's local database on your device.
Photos, camera, and documents. If you attach receipts, photos, or scanned documents to your evidence locker, those files are stored only on your device. The camera and photo library are accessed only when you initiate an attachment.
Exports you create. When you generate a report, backup, or accountant package, DayLine writes a file and hands it to the iOS share sheet. Where that file goes — email, AirDrop, cloud storage — is entirely your choice, and the copy leaves the app only because you sent it.
Device backups. Like any iOS app, DayLine's local data may be included in your device's iCloud or computer backups according to your own iOS settings. Those backups are governed by Apple's privacy policy and are not accessible to us.
DayLine contains no analytics, no advertising, no tracking SDKs, and no third-party code that phones home. We do not collect personal information, we do not create accounts, we do not sell or share data with anyone, and we have no servers that could receive your data in the first place. We cannot see your data even if we wanted to — and we do not want to.
DayLine offers optional subscriptions billed through Apple. All payment processing is handled by Apple; we never see your payment details. Apple provides us only aggregate, anonymized sales information. You can manage or cancel a subscription anytime in your device's Settings under your Apple ID.
Because everything lives on your device, deleting the app deletes all of its data. You can also clear individual records, attachments, or your entire history from within the app. There is nothing to request from us, because we hold nothing.
DayLine is a tax tool intended for adults and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children — or, for that matter, from anyone.
If DayLine's data practices ever change — for example, if a future version adds an optional sync feature — this policy will be updated before that change ships, and the app will make the change clear. The effective date at the top always reflects the latest revision.
